Brexit update February 2021

February 2021

We’re super fortunate here in the Netherlands, with the Rijksoverheid (Dutch national government) and the Belastingdienst (Tax Office) providing clear and up-to-date information about what the consequences are for British citizens resident in this country.

The most recent question being asked is:
Will my British driving licence still be valid in the Netherlands from 1 January 2021?

If you are a British licence holder living in the Netherlands, you’ll need to exchange your UK driving licence for a Dutch licence at your municipality. From 1 January 2021 you will need to submit a health declaration to the Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen – CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing).

There are slight differences in validity of licenses depending on when you relocated to the Netherlands, so head over to the Rijksoverheid’s section on driving licences for British citizens to ensure that your licence doesn’t expire.
