Visit Minister of State for Justice and Security and Director of Migration Policy
21 June 2023On Wednesday morning 21 June we welcomed Minister of State for Justice and Security Eric van der Burg and Director of Migration Policy Sietske Duller. At Mosae Forum 10, they were allowed to experience for themselves the journey of the highly skilled migrant through the so-called fast-track procedure: from the accelerated registration at the Gemeenteloket to the consultation at the Expat Centre Maastricht Region and the issuing of the residence permit at the IND counters. This generated quite some interest from the visitors present. After all, it is not often that you are handed a residence permit by a Minister of State.
Maastricht municipality is working with surrounding municipalities and German and Belgian partners to position 'Maastricht Region' internationally for knowledge and talent. To further explain the practical side of this story, the programme continued with a visit to Mosa Meat, which is based in the region. This company employs many knowledge migrants so they know at first-hand what the challenges are, from the search for talent and knowledge security to housing within the Euregion.
