All residents in the Netherlands who are planning to stay more than four months must register with the municipality in which they intend to live. The registration needs to be made in person, with all family members present. All residents new to the Netherlands are required by Dutch law to register their presence within five days after arriving.

This first registration is required so a Burgerservicenummer – BSN (resident service number) can be issued for each family member, this number is mandatory for all residents of the Netherlands.

New arrivals who have come to the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant (or their family members), scientific researchers, Intra Corporate Transferee or those completing their Orientation Year are eligible to have their registration fast-tracked. Simply make an appointment with the experts at the Expat Centre Maastricht Region and in utilising the specialised Fast Track process we are able to expedite administrative processes and have our international talent settled more swiftly.

It is NOT possible to make an appointment at the Expat Centre Maastricht Region to register (as a non-resident), change your address, driving license or hand in additional documents (birth certificate, marriage licence etc.).  For this you will need to schedule an appointment with your municipality.
