Brightlands Startup League

11 April 2024
The 4 Brightlands campuses, together with LIOF , Provincie Limburg and Maastricht University have launched a new initiative for start-ups in the Maastricht Region: the Brightlands Startup League. The Brightlands Startup league is “a complete support package that will help you boost your innovative product”.

Entrepreneurs and burgeoning entrepreneurs can register online for one of a number of activities. For example, a one-on-one counselling session with an expert in the health, sustainability or digitalization industries who can gauge the stage your company or idea is at and discuss what steps could be made to grow or expand. There are also networking events on offer, and up to 10 masterclasses each year.

All the activities take place in Limburg – mostly in the Maastricht Region – but applicants don’t have to be from Limburg to be able to take part in them. They don’t even have to be from the Netherlands. Start-ups from other provinces and even other countries that are interested in the opportunities presented by this innovative region are welcome to join.

Applicants can start the programme whenever it suits. The Startup League does not come with fixed start and end dates, unlike regular degree programs. All that is required is to make an initial appointment, or check the programme of events and register for an activity. The programme is funded by the Province so is completely free of charge.

In total 3 of the 4 Brightlands campuses are located in the Maastricht Region: Chemelot Campus  in Sittard-Geleen, Health Campus  in Maastricht and the Smart Services Campus  in Heerlen. The 4th campus, Greenport , is located north of the Maastricht Region, in Venlo.

Limburgs Instituut voor Ontwikkeling en Financiering, LIOF (Limburg institute for development and finance) is the regional development agency for Limburg and supports innovative entrepreneurs, start-ups, scale-ups and SME’s with advice, network and financing.
