Programme Partner: Philharmonie Zuidnederland

Interview with Erwin Pellemans, marketing & communications specialist

27 February 2023

Each month we’re going to give one of our Programme Partners the floor and introduce themselves and their services so you can ensure you’re getting the most out of life in the Maastricht Region.

I am Erwin Pellemans and I am the Marketing & Communications Specialist for philharmonie zuidnederland, the symphony orchestra for Zuid-Nederland. We perform in many towns in the south of the Netherlands (Maastricht, Heerlen, Eindhoven, Tilburg, Breda) but also in Aachen (DE), Amsterdam and Utrecht. We do that mostly in theatres and concert halls, but sometimes in special places such as the Vrijthof in Maastricht. Duncan Ward has been Chief Conductor of the orchestra since the 2021-2022 cultural season and the orchestra is led by intendant Stefan Rosu.

How can your organisation add value to the lives of expats / internationals in the Maastricht Region?

Naturally, work and career are important. But besides that, it is valuable that the city or region you live in provides crucial aspects of life, like sports and culture. Classical music is a “language no problem” cultural event, so I think our orchestra fulfils some of these needs. As one of the leading Dutch professional symphony orchestras we will definitely deliver to the highest standards.

What is the best thing about living in the Maastricht Region?

The variety of culture provided. The Maastricht Region is a great and warm region with many cultural influences. It is wonderful to spend a day treating yourself with a nice meal and a concert. A great and relaxing way to enjoy an evening or your weekend.

How can expats / internationals contact your organisation?

Via our website or the Theater aan het Vrijthof website. Our Instagram account is in English. We also have a Facebook page and a YouTube channel.
